Conor McGregor Goes After Firas Zahabi | SiriusXM | Luke Thomas

Tristar Gym owner and famed MMA coach Firas Zahabi made a Q&A video on his YouTube channel where he espoused the view that, in a rematch, he expected Max Holloway to defeat Conor McGregor. In response, McGregor issued an insulting tweet wondering why Zahabi never fought professionally and demanded he keep quiet.

The response from the former champion is instructive because it’s a microcosm of how all of MMA works. We are stuck in an honor society where any perceived slight is taken as a grave insult to one’s character and the argument from authority reigns supreme. Enough.

  1. I definitely notice MMA media kinda cautiously giving critical opinion of fighters for the reasons you pointed out. I think it's great that you're at piece with if you stating your opinion ends up with a snub. I feel content has higher quality with that mindset.

  2. Conor should probably train with Firas to improve his holes, instead of doing that

  3. ok but I doubt McGregor would tear his acl in the second fight. idk who would win..I know it would be close but ask yourself this…Can Holloway do to Alvarez, What McGregor did to Alvarez? I like both..I think McGregor can win by striking. either way it would probably be a decision victory for whomever was to win

  4. People still don't understand that Conor is nuts and will fight anyone who attacks him in any way. He has been very consistent on this.

  5. Conor trying his best to call out everyone except MMA fighters. It's making me sad. I hate the man with a passion but I'd still rather see him fight than run his mouth and try to take ridiculous freak show fights to maintain some sort of relevance.

  6. I believe Firas was Canadian Muay Thai champion and won titles in Jui Jitsu as well. He's one of the best coaches in the game and he does the same training as GSP. GSP said he would beat everyone in the gym. As far as him being a twerp, I believe he's the same size as Connor if not bigger. Firas is a good guy. Leave him alone.

  7. @luke Conor is always a few moves ahead of most… This isn't really about Firas, I think he saw an opportunity to wake up GSP for a mega fight. Conor – chess. The rest – shoots and ladders.
