  1. I have a computer, obviously, and I like being online…but not when I leave the house. Once I'm in the world out there, I want to be as conscious of the beauty and danger around me as possible. So, no smart phone for me, not even a cell phone. Every year I wish I had one maybe two or three times. Not nearly enough to make me get one. I can't imagine having the quality of life and attention that I have now if I had the internet in my pocket. There's a tidal wave of phone induced depression coming. How can you process your life and feelings if you're checking your phone every few minutes day in and day out? It's literally impossible to be mentally healthy or direct your life in the right direction without introspection…open ended no time pressure introspection…But hey, I know the phones have won this war. I'm practically the only one I know without one. I'm fighting the good fight because I believe in it and because it sucks less than fighting the bad fight. I do believe that no matter how much you think you need your phone…you don't. Unplug that monster and your life will be better. You will feel it. But you'll have to suffer first. That's true of almost everything that will make your life truly better. You'll have to suffer first. I'm with Goggins. Go where the suffering is. Not just with working out, but internally, emotionally. Give up the phone, not just for a few days, but permanently, just give it up, and you'll see what I mean. ;~)

  2. Black dude here with a mouth full of shawrama trying to keep it in. That joke is hilarious

  3. It's not just that they feel empowered by social media, it's that all the entertainment aimed at them has this "You're the chosen one" theme to it. I can't help but think it's by design from some overarching organization's mandate.
