  1. My first car at 17 was a ‘72 beetle. Totaled it twice and drove it home from the accident scene both times.
I own a landscape company and we run mowers with more horsepower than this ‘55.

  2. The hills are green. Rare sight here in So CA.

  3. it's amazing that a guy with such a collection of nice cars has time to waste driving this cheap rat thing. I mean the guy has bugattis and all for christ sake

  4. Had a 74 with Claudes high perf. heads, blueprinted motor, dual Webers 44 's & a 12 1/2lb flywheel.( rev. limiter ready lol) Karmann Ghia front disk brakes & blew away lots of Sonnyboys stock Mustangs , just for fun. Had cars & trucks since….i miss the bug, thou.

  5. no thanks….restoration to showroom floor status for me.

  6. Nostalgia and Guilt. High School in the 80's I had a '67, '63 and '70 in that order. Poor Bugs, I murdered them all in roll overs. Seems no matter which way you cranked the idle screw on the carb they wouldn't idle. You have to master simultaneous brake and gas pedal use with one foot. And with a little practice they'd shift fine with no clutch

  7. Had a 1956 (very similar except real turn signals). It's a little disappointing that they didn't mention what was arguably the car's strangest interior feature — the gas 'pedal' (until 1957) was actually a small roller thing, not a pedal as we know it.
