Conor McGregor vs Cowboy Cerrone is a real possibility…

Donald Cowboy Cerrone settled the feud with his former coaches at Jackson’s MMA beating Mike Perry by armbar. Now the Cowboy has the most wins and finishes in UFC history and wants to return to lightweight, Chael Sonnen speculates that his next opponent may be Conor McGregor.

  1. Conor fights Cerrone if he wants to headline a fight night card……. I see little reasons to think Cerrone can break into the lightweight top 10. He already cannot break into the Welterweight top 10.

  2. I think it will be diaz or poirer as there is a history there with both with diaz this is one of the few times we can justify conor fighting someone so inactive and with poirer he's been asking for a title shot but he did accept the diaz fight due to the event I have no doubt dustin wants the rematch and with a win over him at 55 conors next fight could be a title fight and if loses then poirer could have the trilogy with conor or fight for the belt. Because of cerrone fighting great fighters at 170 and losing I think the general audience would massively underestimate his threat to conor and its possible his lack of relevance at 55 currently doesn't make conor fighting for the belt after the winning likely. Cerrone claimed the ufc had an opponent in mind for him at 55 so I think it is gaethje as they both have similar brands and is nobody loses regardless of result and he mentioned a quick return and I don't think conor can return by the end of the year.

  3. Cowboy is a glorified journeyman. Conor is a megastar. I don’t see the matchup unless Conor wants to really humble himself and work his way back up in the eyes of MMA fans.

  4. As a former champion, if Cowboy drops to 155 and beats McGregor, he immediately gets a title match against Khabib or Furgeson. Same for McGregor if he gets the win.
