5 rounds fights put athletes at risk while making fights less enjoyable for fans.

Chael Sonnen gives his argument for why there should no longer be 5 rounds fights in mixed martial arts and also why boxing fights should have fewer rounds. The risk to athletes is too great and most of the time, longer fights are less exciting.

  1. Not true. Jon Jones vs cormier they go all out.they need 5rounds n it's amazing.

  2. Agreed let's get rid of 5 rounds and bring back unlimited rounds just because you win a decession to win a fight you must finish it

  3. Championship fights should be one 15 minute round. No breaks, no coaching from the sidelines. To be the champ you've got to beat the champ. Any fight that goes the distance, and is relatively close, the decision goes to the champ.

Champ has to defend at least once every 6 months. Failure to do so, regardless of injury, results in the belt being stripped, and top two contenders fight for the interim. Ex champ gets first dibs at the winner, to once again make the title official.

If ex champ can't make the rematch, interim holder is announced as official champ.

  4. Sorry but no one watches wrestling because it boring… so boxing is greater than wrestling in entertainment even in MMA …👊🏽👊🏽

  5. And no you can feel your opponent out of you have the understanding for which by the view of your fights you do not know simple striking…👊🏽

  6. I'll concede you this, you can absolutely get a winner in a three round contest. Hell, you could get a clear winner in a one round contest, if you made it a 10 minute round. I don't think doing away with five rounds in MMA is going to make injuries all that less prevalent, considering the majority of injuries actually happen in training (fact). But I see what you're saying Chael. However, championship rounds have always been what make or break a fighter. You should know that sentiment better than almost anyone. For every snooze-fest you can name, someone else can name a barn-burner of the same length. Styles make fights; fighters make fights.
