Eddie Alvarez’s ‘8-Figure’ Contract With ONE: What’s the Truth? | SiriusXM | Luke Thomas

Eddie Alvarez, the former UFC lightweight champion, spoke to ESPN this week and told them he’d signed an eight-figure deal with Asian-based ONE Championship. Alvarez engaged in a Twitter back and forth with writer Jonathan Snowden, who questioned the the truth of the claim. So, what’s the truth? The answer is no one knows and Alvarez is known to be straightforward and candid. If he is getting paid that much, it is very much deserved. But the reality is fighters, promoters and managers routinely lie to the MMA media. Even if Alvarez doesn’t, that practice means verifying unusual claims – ONE Championship exists on venture capitalist funding – is now a requirement of the job.

The Luke Thomas Show airs weekdays, 3 to 6pm ET, on SiriusXM RUSH, channel 93.

  1. Liberal Luke Media is really calling fighters out for LIES! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜…

  2. Maybe it's 8 figures in some weird SE Asian currency.

  3. I don't doubt it. 10 milli is fair considering his fan base is going to migrate over to ONE with him, drive interest in the league and bolster their profits.

  4. Don't get why its so outlandish lol ?? He is a top 5 guy and I am sure he could have made like 6-10 mil in the UFC in couple fights or 5-10 mil in Bellator on a couple fight deal so he would take the highest deal

  5. How can it be guaranteed? What if he never actually fights?

Eddie is a liar when he says its guaranteed.

He also said they made him a partner so I'm assuming he's a stakeholder of the company.
