Chris Weidman: I deserve title shot after UFC 230 win | Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show

UFC middleweight Chris Weidman calls in to Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show to discuss his UFC 230 fight against Luke Rockhold being cancelled, saying he was initially “pissed” about this because he prepared to take on Rockhold and talks about if he is feeling let down that the rematch isn’t happening. Weidman expresses his thoughts on his new opponent for UFC 230, Ronald “Jacare” Souza for the co-main event and how he was prepared to take on anybody, but Souza was the only fighter the UFC approached him with. Weidman explains that if he beats Souza on November 3, he will be going for the middleweight title in his next fight. Weidman expresses whether he is going to have any ring rust leading into this fight after a long layoff since his last bout. Weidman details his relationship with actor Kevin James, who he has become great friends with and says James is a mentor to him. Weidman also describes what it is like working out with New York Knicks center Enes Kanter.

  1. God Ariel is a piece of shit instigator, can’t help himself. Glad chris seen it.

  2. Man weidman went from a really handsome guy before the rockhold fight to looking like a young antonio rodrigo noguera! His eyes are all crooked and face rearranged. Fightings brutal stuff!

  3. Sounds punchy. Sad. Guy got in the equivalent of 3 car crashes and looks and sounds like shit.

  4. I’m sure that I would be bitter too because I know the UFC has tried to ruin his career multiple times but this guy trying to shit on them at every opportunity is getting more and more ridiculous and I know it’s been this way for a long time. Good for Chris for calling him out.

  5. he might not deserve a title shot, however his three losses were literally to the top three in the world. Mousasi is the best in the world, yoel practically beat whittaker, and Rockhold is a former champion and def in the top 4. Idk about a title shot but he beat the guy fighting for the title (Kelvin)

  6. Come on Weidman, you'll need to make your way back on top before you get a title shot.
