83 Weeks #2: “The Finger Poke of Doom”

Hulk Hogan has said the “Finger Poke of Doom” was the “beginning of the end of WCW,” and no one really disagreed with him… or did they? Find out what Eric Bischoff thinks of this angle with the benefit of nearly 20 years hindsight. We address the rumor that Goldberg shot down the first idea for his angle with Liz and how Eric thinks Goldberg and Liz did in their acting roles that night.

Plus Conrad presses Eric to defend the silliness of a “Hogan running for President” angle, clarification on Kevin Nash’s role behind the scenes, why Eric put him in that position, when the plan was in place to hand Hogan the title, who got Goldberg a 1000% raise from WCW, an incredible story you’ve probably never heard before about a huge mainstream deal Turner turned down, and a tidbit about a word you couldn’t say on WCW TV that you just will not believe! Of all the things on this episode to discuss, only one decision made that night really mattered and it led to 600,000 folks changing the channel. Conrad breaks down “butts in the seats” in detail and makes Eric has to own it. Oh and Eric buries two legends in the business to the point it leaves Conrad speechless. Eric is fired up and ready to breakdown the FINGER POKE OF DOOM!

  1. 2:05:30 wow Conrad good job sticking up for yourself. I love the sly way you take jabs at people as a quick closing statement then change the topic quickly right after you get your jab in. Very nice dick head move, You got Eric this time. He was silent after you asked him what's he booking, Amazing. And btw Eric didn't say another word til 2:07:13, I think Conrad almost broke him

  2. I’m not a Bret Hart fan. But I definitely understand why he says Bischoff knows nothing about wrestling. I think Bischoff is a good business man and can be persuasive. Whereas Bruce Prichard has always came off to me as a slimy, used car salesman who is full of shit.
Bischoff’s problem is understanding the business from the fans perspective rather than his, “we have to shock the audience” philosophy of television.

  3. That be some panel but Erik has his own agenda admit it you gave nwo creative control that’s what sank you

  4. "What are you booking these days buddy?" The silence after this question is oh so telling.

  5. Conrad calling out Bischoff a lot in this one.,..especially the last30 min "what are you booking these days"

  6. Eric sounds as bad as Nash. Conrad is spot on that the big stupid bump from the poke was more offensive to a fan than someone lying down.
Yes we know wrestling isn't real competition but making it absurd because you have no respect for keeping realism is stupid and offensive.

  7. Conrad honestly has the best gimmick in the business right now. His busting on Bischoff is better then anything on WWE.
