83 Weeks #2: “The Finger Poke of Doom”

Hulk Hogan has said the “Finger Poke of Doom” was the “beginning of the end of WCW,” and no one really disagreed with him… or did they? Find out what Eric Bischoff thinks of this angle with the benefit of nearly 20 years hindsight. We address the rumor that Goldberg shot down the first idea for his angle with Liz and how Eric thinks Goldberg and Liz did in their acting roles that night.

Plus Conrad presses Eric to defend the silliness of a “Hogan running for President” angle, clarification on Kevin Nash’s role behind the scenes, why Eric put him in that position, when the plan was in place to hand Hogan the title, who got Goldberg a 1000% raise from WCW, an incredible story you’ve probably never heard before about a huge mainstream deal Turner turned down, and a tidbit about a word you couldn’t say on WCW TV that you just will not believe! Of all the things on this episode to discuss, only one decision made that night really mattered and it led to 600,000 folks changing the channel. Conrad breaks down “butts in the seats” in detail and makes Eric has to own it. Oh and Eric buries two legends in the business to the point it leaves Conrad speechless. Eric is fired up and ready to breakdown the FINGER POKE OF DOOM!

  3. Am I the only one but does Conrad come off as a Dick to Eric on this episode? He sounds like a Mark who wants to bash everything. Looking back on it I actually enjoyed this episode watching it now. I agree with Eric on Elizabeth played the role perfectly even if it didn't make sense.

  4. Overall I think 97 was better but 98 was when everything came together bret was there warrior they should of had warrior vs Goldberg they had the potential to make great matches bret vs hogan should've happened

  5. Wow, I love Bischoff, he Def made some.mistakes, But this Other Guy Sucks, he's a HUGE mark for himself, and he thinks he Knows it ALL because hes read about it 3rd, 4th person, or BS opinions, not even facts

  6. Remember that one time when one guy fingered the other guy then he dropped down on all fours and climbed on top of him and another guy dropped down and started slapping that ass I mean mat and that caused another guy to ring his bell and then everybody ….

  7. NWO, LWO they should've started the JWO the Jew World Order lead by Bill Goldberg

  8. When they were talking about making a mockery of the business it reminded me of a match between Dusty Rhodes and Jimmy Valiant at MSG from the 70's. It was ridiculously awful. No wrestling moves at all NOT 1! It was just playing to the crowd. Dusty was acting super gay and shaking his ass and at one point even spanked Jimmy on his ass. It's on here go watch it if you feel like cringing. I can't believe people used to think wrestling was real?
