Stipe Miocic 242.5 pounds…Daniel Cormier 246 pounds.

As Chael Sonnen predicted, UFC Light heavyweight Champion weighed in more than UFC Heavyweight Champ Stipe Miocic. What does this mean for the fight?

  1. Ok Chael, fair enough. One question to DC fans though. A younger DC (arguably in his prime age-wise) had to go all rounds with Josh Barnett and Mir. He couldnt knock them out and he couldnt submit them. Stipe is a much better wrestler then both of them, so I just dont see DC submitting or knocking out Stipe. And I certainly dont see him outboxing him either. So how does DC win? Even if they go all rounds, I seriously doubt Stipe will be gassed out. He is fitter than DC, younger and has fought against heavy-weights like Dos Santos 5 rounds with insane tempo. We've never seen DC fight some modern heavy-weight like Dos Santos for 5 rounds. So how does DC win on points? Yeah, he can throw Stipe down a few times like he did to Gustafsson, but is that enough to win on points?

  2. The worst part is both are outstanding champions and one will be gone. Both are true champs in every aspect and represent this awesome sport very well.

  3. Still think at40 the extra pounds will cost him into later rounds cause he will be putting so much gas trying to ground him in early rounds…and is going to submit him?? Nope. Stip will be able to defend alot of takedowns and just box him up and if it's still going into 4, DC gonna be eating lots of shots and takedowns barely there…tko for boxhead late I reckon….

  4. Chael, you know better about weight. As a wrestler myself, there is a difference between weight advantage and size and strength advantage at HW Just because DC is heavier, doesn't mean he's stronger or overall bigger. I'm personally 55% on Stipe winning this fight. To your point, by KO. I've gone with that outcome since the match was announced. Yes DC is more skilled than Stipe all around in my opinion, but there is a reason why Stipe can't make 205 and DC can. Stipe will be be by far leaps and bounds better than any HW DC has faced, including a declining Barnett. It's either Stipe by KO/TKO or a razor thin decision for DC. Going with the former.
