Chael Sonnen wonders why main event and title fights are 5 rounds, instead of three. With Jose Aldo refusing a main event spot due to the increased number of rounds for the same pay, will more fighters follow?

  1. I’m down for 2 10min rounds for championship rounds, and 1 15min round for the rest.

At the end of the day, I think the extra time is important for championship fights.

  2. I honestly like having a couple more rounds to watch when a fight is good. I get that it takes a toll on fighters. Not arguing that. But when you pay for instance a Mike fight you were hoping for more than 1 round. The average fans don’t want to pay for a short event even thought there’s a chance it won’t go the mile. That’s my perspective but I’m just an average payer. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  3. True super bowl but we get more. We get commercials. We get some of the best FREE half time performances. We get another hour worth watching. I think it’s a fan thing to be honest. Not a fighter or event thing but fans in mind. It draws more probably. Again I don’t have stats to argue just assumption.
