According to a report from ESPN, Israel Adesanya will face Kelvin Gastelum for the UFC interim middleweight championship at UFC 236 in April. Champion Robert Whittaker isn’t expected to return from hernia surgery until the summer. While Gastelum was set to face Whittaker at UFC 234, that was derailed with a last minute injury. Adesanya fought Anderson Silva on that UFC 234 card and now steps up to face Whittaker. Here’s my reaction to this breaking news.

What does Adesanya have that KG hasn't seen? But beyond that, how does Adesanya even beat KG. Range? KG hasn't beaten multiple ranged fighters. Adesanya has zero wrestling, so his only option is on the feet, where KG has more time to drop bombs the likes Adesanya has never seen.
Adesanya has been fighting scrubs and won a slapping contest against 50 year old silva. Most overrated fighter in ufc.
This fight leads to 2 potential fights and Gastelum is a pawn … We could have a Stlebender vs Whitaker in Australia I a yr… Or if somehow Gastelum wins superfight at 185 with Tyronn Woodley in Aug.
Essentially this opened up possibilitys worse case scenario we get the original fight
