The Jon Jones UFC 232 Rejection Never Happened

The Jon Jones UFC 232 Rejection Never Happened | SiriusXM | Luke Thomas

UFC 232 pay-per-view buyrate estimates are in courtesy Dave Meltzer and they’re substantial: 700,000. Jon Jones’s second over Alexander Gustafsson reaches his third-best buyrate figure as a UFC pay-per-view headliner.

What’s the takeaway here? First, the pre-fight declarations that fans were done with the UFC or Jones proved to be a tempest in a teapot. There’s no indication whatsoever that the controversy surrounding Jones did anything but boost business. As I’ve previously argued, if you really dislike Jones, but your habits make you indistinguishable from fans, then you’re really just a fan by a different name. Second, anti-doping scaremonger tactics continue to fall flat.

  1. @lukethomas don’t you think it’s obvious that Dana is was playing the long game, bringing usada in specifically to get this espn deal????

  2. I bet a lot more people bootlegged than bought. The UFC can inflate these numbers to look better. I dont know how many people realize that.

  3. “An engorged portrusion within which my cremaster generated, or I should say promulgated, its own specific matrix of delimited rationales within which a filter—or contested continuum, maybe?—can be transmogried into a sort of bas relief by proxy if you will.” As the biggest jones apologist on the planet this must be how Luke described his erection when seeing these numbers

  4. I honestly only watched up to Cyborg vs Nunes bout for greatest women's fighter of all-time..& that was so hyped, I was shouting crazy..no way Jon's fight could live up to that, so I skipped it, & I never skip fights, I watch early pre, all the way thru..but frankly, I don't care about Jon fighting anyone besides D.C. part III @ heavyweight. everything else is waste of time..but I will say, this is the way Conor shouldve came back..maybe fought Aldo or Diaz out the gate..now it's over.. all that's left is Jon vs D.C. III..UFC gotta see this & make it happen. D.C. Brock is a joke, they can do that later in WWE.

  5. Thomas, Chicks dig the long ball! At the end of the day, fans do not care about steroids! Thats a fact! the media wants to make it seem like they do but in reality they dont! The facts state that the majority of MMA fans want to see Jon Jones compete in the UFC! I loved Vitor Belfort on TRT and most fans would agree that Vitor was beter on TRT than without!

  6. While I agree with most everything you're saying, I think we can't overlook the Nunes vs Cyborg fight and how much Brazil attributed to the Pay-Per-View numbers. Honestly, I was more excited for that fight than the return of Jon Jones. That fight alone was main event worthy and it delivered!
