  1. He's not lying when he's saying it was a hot rod from factory, i mean just look at that paint!

  2. I appreciate your videos Mr. Leno! Thank you for showcasing these cars I may never have the opportunity to see otherwise.

  3. The current automatic transmissions do have the freewheeling in high gear(s): they have an one-way clutch on the output shaft that lets the engine drive the wheels but not the other way around. In the lower gears this clutch gets locked or bypassed, so that the wheels are directly connected to the transmission. Same reason, to save fuel. The trailer mode button also locks this clutch, and that's also a part of the reason why in the older trucks that didn't have this button you'd put the transmission in "3" for towing. With the manual trans you can always do the freewheeling by putting it in neutral. My guess would be that they didn't have the synchronized transmissions at the time, so to save the pain of shifting into neutral and back they'd put in a separate device. But once the synchronizers came in, there was no need any more. BTW, Volvo's manual 4-speed transmission with the electrically-engaged overdrive in 240, 740, probably also early 940 also had the freewheeling when the overdrive was on.

  4. What a beauty. I love the rumble seat. The 2 tone paint is really classy. When America was actually free. THANKS!!

  5. Lol "do not drink contents of battery" that one got me laughing
