Neil deGrasse Tyson Drops Knowledge | Hot Ones Extras

Neil deGrasse Tyson’s epic Hot Ones run was so full of knowledge darts, we couldn’t fit them all into one episode. So we thought it was only right to share some loosies from the cutting room floor. Here’s NDT doing what he does best: Blowing minds, one topic at a time.

  1. oh german languitch frustrates me too since newspapers took the Word for the job (when someone gets wood out of the forest) and used it on people who get illegal immigrants into the country … so now all who work in the forest at that profession.. and get asked what their job is get looked at strange when they say it … cuz people think they are criminals

  2. English lacks a lot of words like that. The one that frustrates me? "Nonviolent." There is no word in English that describes the actions of men like Dr. King or the Mahatma. English merely says what they are not: non violent. It completely fails to describe what they are. Pacifism doesn't work because no one is going to look at King or Gandhi and say they are not actively and powerfully resisting oppression, that they are passive in the face of evil. There just isn't a word for it. I'm not sure any language has a real word for it.
