Ben Askren’s first UFC fight will reportedly be against former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler in January at UFC 233 in Anaheim. While many are happy to see Askren make his UFC debut, some others hate this fight for Askren. I don’t. It’s not the perfect or even best fight for Askren, but plenty useful. Here’s why Colby Covington or Darren Till can wait.

Time to give askren the easiest possible road. Connor McGregor style. Love you Lawler… But this match up sickens me.
Lawler a few years ago would have been an interesting contest but now he is a shell of his former self and even guys like RDA seem to be able to better him.
its not really a good fight for Lawler he is a washed up fighter now you can say he still in the top 5 on PAPER but he is not the same after the Rory fight. This is stylistically chosen by the UFC to build up Ben Askren for a bigger fight in the future. Dont be surprised if Ben Askren will make it look EASY.
Ben askren has promised to stifle any and all excitement, and do his very best to lay on top of someone for 15 minutes

I hope Ben comes over here and gets his ass kicked. The dude just rubs me kinda wrong. He comes off as a trash talking white boy nerd who pretty much thumbs his nose at all UFC fighters and thinks he's better than all of them without having fought any of them. They should give him a UFC name like "The White Boar", cause he's going to be a big bore to UFC. Maybe Benny will prove me wrong but I don't think so. You can already tell Luke would shine his shoes (like he would Conner).
