Ariel Helwani: Israel Adesanya vs Anderson Silva is an ‘incredible matchup’ | Ariel & The Bad Guy

Ariel Helwani and Chael Sonnen react to the UFC announcing Israel Adesanya vs Anderson Silva for UFC 234. Sonnen says he is excited for the bout as Anderson Silva’s intellect will make this an interesting fight. Helwani cannot believe people who are not excited for this fight as it is “the fight we all wanted to see.”

  1. Anderson needs to be the veteran in this fight. Like Tyron Woodley with Darren Till. Use your spider traps, make Israel overextend, get the fight to the ground, wear on him, GnP him and eventually try to get a choke or a limb. If Anderson gets KOd, at least for me, that'd be really shitty. I've watched him since I think the Dan Henderson fight and he's always been one of my favorites and imo the best counter striker in MMA history. Knocking out forest Griffin with a jab going backwards. Front kicking Vitor in the face. Every MMA fighter was at the gym on Monday practicing that kick. Pulling that legendary triangle against Chael after getting dominated, taken down, beaten and humiliated, for 4 and a half rounds. With a fucked up rib, mind you. Storched the gangster from West Linn in the rematch. Leben, crushed. Okami, crushed. Bonnar*, crushed. Maia, absolutely shut down. His resume holds a lot of weight, especially with how he handled a vast majority of those fights. I just don't want to see all that get overlooked if Israel beats Anderson but even worse if he finishes him. It would be incredible to see the Spider, one last time, in true form and maybe even fight for the belt.

  2. Anyone else find it interesting that the guy who can't pronounce anyone's name if it has more than two syllables in it, can pronounce Adesanya no problem?

  3. Anderson himself has said that he isn't as fast and strong as the other fighters.
