Should fighter pay be disclosed? Does anyone really care?

Chael Sonnen discusses the topic of fighter pay disclosure. Should an athletes compensation be public knowledge? Is this a topic that anyone really cares about?

  1. Think its a simple yes for me. Look at all the big sports. We know exactly what they make. "oh this guy signed a 100 million contract over 5 years". I honestly think the reason they dont disclose it, is because ALOT of dudes who're veterans dont even get 100k a fight. Which is fucking stupid. The UFC sure as hell dont want to disclose it. They still say fighters are individual contractors…yet they cant fight anywhere else, they cant void their contract. They're basicly locked down to do a job for them until the end of their life or the contract is up. You'd never see a construction worker forced in to something like that. And they do contracts. It's just a disgusting way to use the fighters.

  2. "The average household income in the U.S. is around $45,000 per year, yet almost half of the UFC’s fighters (219 fighters – 41%) made less than the average American household in 2017 (44% in 2015). Sometimes it doesn’t pay to get punched in the face."

Less than fucking half made less than the average working american. And these people are fighting at the highest level of their sport that generates millions upon millions every event. It's exploitation at its finest. So the UFC rather hide that than show it.

  3. It matters that's why a certain fighter can be viewed as the A-side fighter and the other fighter viewed as the B-side fighter.

  4. The reason why it important is because is because most sports pay 40 to 50% revenue to players the UFC is way below that i forget but it’s around 25%

How would we know that if it wasn’t released

There could / should be a class action lawsuit from ufc fighters
