Canelo, DAZN and UFC’s PPV Future | SiriusXM | Luke Thomas

Boxer Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez signed a landmark deal with DAZN, the streaming broadcaster, worth at least $365 million for 11 fights. It’s a five-year deal that’s being heralded as the most lucrative contract for an individual fighter in sports history. I have four takeaways from this development, not least of which is that the era of streaming is upon us. More than that, however, is how intertwined MMA and boxing are and that between the WWE moving to their own network and this deal, UFC’s days on pay-per-view must be numbered.

The Luke Thomas Show airs weekdays, 3 to 6pm ET, on SiriusXM RUSH, channel 93.

  1. DAZN such a crazy good value now with Joshua and Canelo being exclusive to it.

  2. Combat Sport is getting expensive if you buy every available. 64.99 PPV, 9.99 for fightpass, 9.99 Dazn, 9.99 ESPN+,. That's why we use the free streams. LMAO

  3. Dazn better improve their servers because last time i streamed the bellator event off of them it lagged. i got 5g internet so i am assuming i am not the only one this happened too.

  4. dazn needs to up their availability. it`s just available in a few countries worldwide.

  5. Wow DAZN has NFL, MLB Network, Bellator and KHL hockey. 20 dollars a month though..

  6. please stop talking about boxing, all the biggest names are on showtime, De La Hoya has beef with Haymon so he will never bow dow and go to showtime, there had nowhere to go but to Dazn lmao if Canelo is the biggest star in boxing WHY DID HBO GO OUT OUT OF BUSINESS? When Floyd left HBO and went to showtime he instantly turned the tide and HBO had been declining ever since lmao. Canelo went from being on the biggest stage to a fucking app lmao nobody wants lmao
