83 Weeks #20: Fall Brawl 1998 (Warrior in WCW)

Why did Janie Engle quit? What happened with Nick Lambros? Why was the concept of War Games changed? What did Eric regret most about this show and feel the need to apologize for? Why was Stevie Ray in the main event? Plus Eric’s thoughts on what could have been better about Jericho’s segment, the best Steiner promo Eric remembers, what was going on with Scott Hall, and of course the good, the bad, and the ugly about the debut of the Warrior in WCW!

  1. Show is a lot better when ERIC breaks down the matches..
It’s VERY INTERESTING to get his take on the Psychology now that he’s a veteran.
    Ok… How much 💵did WCW
    spend on the MAIN EVENT?!?!?!?
9 guys, including 5 highest paid
in the company easily makes this@$1MILLION DOLLAR MAIN PAYROLL EAZY. E.
And what was the gate/butyrate/merch??? WOW!

  2. "A college level analysis…." I so want to believe the Nitro book is a truly sophisticated examination, but when those living in the Meltzer bubble praise it, I'm thinking it's just a slight improvement on the goofy Death of WCW…

  3. I think the War Games match gets more criticism than it deserves. Do people hate it because it had three teams or do they hate it because War Games was every man for themselves? People have to remember that WCW was trying to find an opponent for Goldberg for the next pay per view.

Nonsense. Hogan wanted to get his win back from Warrior. Fans wanted it too, since pretty much everybody hated Warrior's guts until he died in 2014. For Hogan, it may have been more about money over winning matches, but it was STILL about winning matches.

Love Bischoff to death, but I HATE when he goes to bat for Hogan like this. I can literally count on my hand how many matches he has lost. So I'm not buying what Bischoff is saying here.
