Are front flips off an opponent illegal in MMA?

Drew Chatman’s first pro mixed martial arts fight at LFA 36 ended with a win via knockout against Irvins Ayala. Chatman celebrated the victory by doing a front flip off of Ayala’s back before he was disqualified. Chael Sonnen gives his thoughts on this episode of Beyond the Fight.

  1. When they are unconscious … yes obviously. Plus the disrespected behavior should result in a fine and suspension possibly a ban to keep him from hurting anyone else. If someone cant understand why thats wrong then they shouldnt be fighting. He could have done serious damage to that guys back, since the spinal cord is right there. If thats allowed then whos to say he cant step on the back of his neck? That guy clearly has some anger issues and knows damm well that wasnt right. Fuck that guy for doing that just cuz he was getting beat up by a dude who koed himself.

  2. Dont talk about him being sincere. He was apologizing because he knew he fucked himself over, period. Had nobody said anything and there were no consequences, which he knew were coming, he wouldnt have said anything. Dont be naive

  3. You can’t stomp on a guys back when he’s down, it’s an illegal blow.

  4. Honestly idk all I saw was that it was fucked up ….beats him and also does a front flip with his body like damn thats the ultimate slap in the face but idk
