TRT, Jones-UFC-USADA Controversy, How We Move On | SiriusXM | Luke Thomas

This anti-doping craze currently affecting mixed martial arts (MMA) starts with the overcorrection to get rid of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) abuse. UFC jumped into the arms of USADA, but that only created a new set of problems: uneven justice, incomplete science, harsh penalties and more. Now with UFC 232 on the horizon and Jon Jones bringing these issues into stark relief, we have to ask ourselves how we move on from this. My idea is to adopt the posture of the other sports leagues. I use the ‘reservoir’ theory from political science to make my case. This situation is partly the media’s fault, but also a self-inflicted wound by the UFC. The way forward is knowable and replicable.

The Luke Thomas Show airs weekdays, 3 to 6pm ET, on SiriusXM RUSH, channel 93.

  1. Zero tolerance. Greedy Republicans like Dana will keep this going anyway they can. Don't buy ppv . Remember when ppv used to cost 20-30$ now it's 80$. Greedy liars. Boycott all UFC

  2. Just get rid of testing and let them all do it. It worked in Pride. We'll get better fights too. Turn a blind eye.

  3. Angry white guys: UFC=Joke
    Jon Jones fans: Es Normal
    Balanced Unbiased UFC Fans:
Was it possible that John Jones was micro dosing the first time yes. With the same substance he was caught for last time likely NOT. End it sucks that the paper view had to be moved to save the card

  4. I'm not going to say I disagree with everything you said; it's a nuanced topic. Much I agree with and much I don't. I do have 1 major problem with your logic though. It doesn't matter that there are limited anti-doping policies in other sports. The damage incurred because of the lack of those programs is a problem. It makes no difference that there are stronger policies in some sports than others. That is and always will be a problem, and you don't get to use that as an excuse for mma. You're a philosophy major right? You disappointing me with that argument.
