At UFC 234, Israel Adesanya will face former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Realistically, what can Adesanya earn with a win? A number of things, but there’s a potential for something special. Given his skill set, Adesanya can be the first to not only beat Silva with strikes, but do so without controversy or flair.
Chris Weidman’s knockout win was legitimate, but marred by controversy from Silva’s bizarre antics. Michael Bisping overwhelmed Silva with striking, but no one has put together a winning combination of decisive violence with dramatic flair in the striking department when facing Silva. Here’s my argument for why the Nigerian Kiwi could be the first.
I don't know if it's possible to beat someone worse than Weidman beat Silva both times.
Without beating Yoel, no one should be getting a title shot!
I put 50 bucks on Anderson Silva just cause he is such an underdog. I probably wont win but if Silva does I win 250.
This is gonna be a brutal finish. If im silva i am not taking this fight, but props to him i guess.
Israel got whopped in Glory UFC should try and recruit those guys that beat Israel. Maybe losing in Glory was a major part in his journey to becoming a better Martial Artist. 2018 was the year all hype trains got derailed. Except Israel he was only one that kept rolling. Think about it Till, see ya later. Ngannou see ya later, Northcutt isnt even in UFC anymore, Conor got humiliated, which I loved seeing, Kevin Lee do not get me started. Israel tho has held it down and I normally hate whoever UFC is pushing but this kid is growing on me and he is gonna have a bright future.
Chael has been saying this for weeks come on now.
Luke, your just trying to hype up Israel Adesanya as the new generation I get it, however everyone already knows Anderson is past his prime and not the same fighter since he broke his leg when he fought Weidman….He fights with serious reservation and caution ever since, a common symptom of many fighters when they suffer a traumatic loss.. This would only be a story if Israel Adesanya was fighting Anderson in his prime…Bottom line, we would like to see Anderson reclaim a big win, but the odds are stacked against him… Only way he wins in my opinion is if he comes blazing offensively like the dominant Silva we all remember, likely not but hope for the best….it's a exhibition fight and a paycheck for both fighters.. Anyway, next topic…
Bisping looked like he got hit by a tank and then ran over and then backed over and then ran over again. Silva didn’t even have a fat lip
Key points I will discuss in my podcast:
Anderson is more hitable but has the better chin.
Adesanya is slightly quicker, but Anderson is the cleaner boxer with more power.
You mean beat him while he's 43? No one's done that
