Cornermen must be the adults in the room – stop the fight when a fighter can no longer win.

In the wake of UFC fighters Dan Hooker and Brian Ortega taking excessive damage in their last fights, Chael Sonnen talks about the responsibility of the coaches in their corner to protect their fighter – even when the fighter is willing to continue despite not being able to mount an effective offense.

  1. Chael, it’s just like any work place. Changes won’t be made until someone gets seriously injured or dies.

  2. In the fight game, the cornerman should never step in… but this aint the fight game.. this is the business game and you cant compete with other businesses if your your business is out due to injury. The mind state needs to change for sure.
