Its amazing seeing ROH, NJPW and other promotions showing their support for Roman on Twitter. Class act on their part.
On a slightly more cynical note…what happened Monday night proves why WWE needs to change how it does business.
For the last five years, we’ve been conditioned—and WWE has bet all their chips on it—to accept Roman Reigns as the top guy. That would be their plan for the next five, 10 years and beyond. Problem was: they had no Plan B. Roman’s gone, and now what? They haven’t bothered to build anyone else as a credible champion to take the helm. When Austin was hurt for a year in 1999, they had The Rock and business didn’t miss a beat. When Cena went down in 2007, they had Triple H and Randy Orton to fill the void. Who do they have now? Who steps up to main event Wrestlemania if it’s not Roman? I haven’t a clue because they stopped making anybody else feel like a star years ago. You always need a Plan B. Because sometimes, Plan A can get tossed out.
