Combining Benzodiazepines (such as Xanax, Valium) with Opioids (such as Codeine, morphine, oxycontin, oxycodone) can have synergistic effect in CNS depression, central nervous system depression means the activity of brain will drop down dramatically to the level that body won't even send signal for breathing. it's very dangerous because even naloxone which can reverse the effects of opioids to certain degree (if suspect anyone of overdose, go to closest clinic or drug store they have to hand them to you for free) Cannot reverse these effects due to unpredictable synergistic effects of benzodiazepines. it's much easier to overdose with this combination even at normal clinical doses.
