UFC lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov told a Russian media outlet that not only is he no longer fighting in Nevada after dealing with their out of control athletic commission, but that he might be on ice long enough for the UFC to create an interim title.
He believes if that happens, former interim champ Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier should fight for it. While a Ferguson vs. Poirier fight is a dream come true, it’s not what the division or sport of mixed martial arts. It needs Nurmagomedov vs. Ferguson.
I think Khabib's camp are scared on Tony. Tony already was the Interim champ. Step up Khabib and fight.
They'll do Tony vs Max Holloway for an interim belt. Both are on long win streaks but I'd still rather see Tony vs Khabib and then Max.
I know the chances are slim for this but what if Tony loses to Poirier then what happens to Khabib vs Tony??

Is his suspension and his teammates just in Vegas. If so, why not fight in Cali, New York or Russia
Interim titles are a necessary evil. Just like YouTube thumbnail pictures, with a deep contemplative stare, and the perfect degree of head tilt. Do we really need them? No. But they have a way of drawing you in…even though you despise them.
