Javier Mendez recaps Daniel Cormier’s UFC 230 win, Khabib’s UFC 229 brawl | Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show

Daniel Cormier’s striking coach, Javier Mendez, joins Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show to talk about preparing Daniel Cormier for UFC 230 against Derrick Lewis, including his back injury spurred by a sneeze. Mendez also provides some insight into Cormier’s potential retirement after taking on Brock Lesnar, without a third bout against Jon Jones. Mendez and Helwani then dive into the news about Floyd Mayweather (12:00) agreeing to a Rizin card in Japan instead of fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov. They also look back on UFC 229, (14:00) witnessing Khabib’s post-fight antics inside the arena and talks about the fine and suspension that he could be facing from the state of Nevada after the dramatics in the arena after his bout with Conor McGregor. Mendez also looks ahead to a potential Khabib-Conor rematch.

  1. It’s amazing watching this after the Stipe superfight and the HW defense against Derrick Lewis. DC is blessed as a fighter and his skill set is amazing. DC really is the King of the Grind. AKA is an incredible gym with Coach Javier and the other incredible coaches and fighters incl. Khabib, Luke Rockhold, Cain, Abubaker, Islam, Deron. Definately best Coach and MMA Gym on the planet.

  2. "kabib will go 12 rounds with Floyd" does he not understand the ref can stop a fight when kabib is eating punch after punch. It would be stopped in 6 rounds.
