Firas Zahabi Interview: GSP vs. Khabib, Retirement Thoughts and More

Former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre retired Thursday. To discuss his career, I spoke with longtime trainer and friend Firas Zahabi. We discuss how a prospective fight opposite UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov would have gone, whether GSP is the greatest fighter of all time, his thoughts on GSP’s retirement, top moments from camps and fights and more.

  1. Why were you so angry during the MMA beat. I mean like it’s just a game bruh

  2. GSP fought too infrequently these past years… He was pretty much retired already. Look fwd to his comeback.

  3. It hurts so much that GSP vs Khabib couldn't happen… But George has nothing left to prove. He deserves his peace.

  4. Despite the steroids I think Jones is the real goat. He is just as well rounded as gsp but is also extremely creative and opportunistic. He pioneered so many things such as the oblique kick or chass bass. Spinning elbow attacks off the fence and as a counter to leg kicks and pressure. And lately he has this sick shoulder wrench to counter a underhook that people will probably start copying. He is probably the most physically imposing champion with that level of skill. I think in all of history Jones is probably one of the most dangerous humans when using his body as the weapon. Also beating dc and Gustafson 2x each are better names than George has ever competed against. Sure he is a piece of shit and a cheater but talent wise he is the best imo. Steroids don't give him those tactics and creativity that made him so successful.

  5. As the years go on I'm hoping more fighters leave to bellator the UFC is still the best but the piss poor management with zero consideration for the fans. Who gives a fuck if gsp wins and retires they hand out interim belts every 3 months

  6. Your star struck face in the thumbnail! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  7. Every Canadian should be so Proud of this incredible human being. The Pinnacle of Sportsmanship.
