The TJ Dillashaw-Henry Cejudo Stoppage Wasn’t Great, But…

At UFC Brooklyn (UFC on ESPN+), Henry Cejudo stopped TJ Dillashaw in about 30 seconds. After the bout, UFC President Dana White heavily criticized referee Kevin MacDonald for, in his estimation, calling the fight far too early.

White argued the New York commission made a mistake by putting an allegedly inexperienced referee in a high-stakes situation above their professional capabilities. The truth is, however, MacDonald has been refereeing for 15 years. While I agree the stoppage was not great, it wasn’t terrible either. It was OK and while that’s cold comfort, it’s also not a place worth getting irate.

  1. If you look back at it tj keeps attempting a single leg he tried it 3 times and a 4th after the stoppage and he was just eating shots the whole time it was a good stoppage.
