DJ did not want to fight the real challengers in the 135 so he ran away to continue fighting opponents who pose no threat to him. The reason why DJ did not draw fans in the US was because he ran away from the big fights in favor of easy opponents so that he can showcase his flying armbars. If the trade never happened, DJ would still not have had the guts to fight at 135. That came from the mouse's mouth.
