Dana White Can’t Be Mad at Jose Aldo This Time | SiriusXM | Luke Thomas

Jose Aldo faces Renato Moicano in the first UFC on ESPN+ card of 2019, but not in the main event. That role will be filled by Raphael Assuncao vs. Marlon Maroes 2. UFC President Dana White said at UFC 232 that Aldo should be in the main event, but had personally requested not to be. There’s a very good reason for Aldo’s call and it’s a point first raised by Chael Sonnen.

  1. This is literally nothing. I hate Dana more than anyone and he said nothing wrong. It has nothing to do with fighter pay either. It's strictly strategic. Fast twitch fiber/low cardio fighters like Aldo are far better in 3-round fights. On the flip side, a fighter like Condit would have a title probably by now if all of his fights had been 5 rounds. Off the top of my head, he'd have beaten Hendricks if it were 5 rounds. Lastly, Chael only holds that opinion because of his loss to Anderson in the 5th round. He'd have won the fight if it were 3 rounds.

  2. I agree with what Chael said on his podcast about 5 rounds being too much.
