At UFC 230, Daniel Cormier and Derrick Lewis….

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

…fought only until the second round when Cormier secured the win with a rear naked choke. In the co-main event, Jacare Souza defeated Chris Weidman via third-round TKO. Elsewhere on the card, Israel Adesanya defeated Derrick Brunson, Jared Cannonier scored a major upset in his middleweight debut over David Branch and so much more.   1. I don’t think the late stoppage was about the venue. Refs are affected by how the fight has gone to that point, and a Chris was fighting very well. In theory, if Chris just survives there and holds on the bell there he might scrape a win or at least a draw. I had it 19-19, but 20-18 Weidman isn’t crazy. Refs are quicker when they guy is obviously done, not just from that particular knockdown but on the cards as well. Not suggesting that is the right attitude, but I think it’s the reality.

  2. Adesanya is very very good but Brunson isn’t that great. Weidman, Rockhold, Romero would likely take him down and maul him.
