Challenge Match at a Certified Training Center!

European guy shows up at our Certified Training Center in Osaka, Japan. After his first Gracie Combatives class, he reveals that he’s an experienced boxer and questions whether or not jiu-jitsu would work on him if he were throwing punches. One of the instructors, Ty Bess accepts the challenge…twice. After 25 years of UFC you wouldn’t expect these people to exist anymore, but they do, and the reaction is always the same: After the first loss, let me try that again. After the second loss, where to I sign up?

  1. Every warrior needs to know grappling, it's been true since the dawn of man. It's man's oldest sport, you don't need any special equipment, just two people! Armoured combatants from medieval Europe and Asia were trained in wrestling techniques (this is where jujutsu came from.) Aren't martial arts fascinating and beautiful!? [dabs intensely]

  2. The ‘challenge’ seemed like it was good natured and done out of respect and humility

  3. I am a former ncaa wrestler and I have handle more than a few BJJ teachers over the years. Wrestlers strength is not something you can train for unless you wrestled.

  4. I love jiu-jitsu and it has its usefulness, but let's get five guys in there that want to tear his head off and see how he does. You need effective striking and wrestling to supplement your jiu-jitsu in order to be effective at protecting yourself… Or a force multiplier, especially a firearm. I'm sure you all already know that.

  5. There are two types of challengers. One, they just don't wanna believe what a martial art dojo says that they are capable to offer. They are absolutely ego free, open-minded challengers because they really wanna learn something new if it is effective. They challenge just to test whether the system really works. I guess this guy is kind of a one like that. The other type is crack head, fully ego contained challengers and they just wanna challenge for the sake of their own ego. They try to fight with everything what they have, but they lose the fight basically by exhausting. lol!

  6. Dude really? Doesn’t he get that GJJ is all about managing the distance and minimizing damage lol maybe he a couple strike but once that distance is closed no bueno

  7. That instructor seemed like a BBS4 Certified at LEAST!! Sick Guillotine 😱
Although I wonder if a smaller BBS1 guy would have been able to pull that off?
