Dom D’Agostino, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Physiology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, and a senior research scientist at the Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC). Layne Norton is a renowned prep/physique coach and pro-natural bodybuilder/powerlifter with a PhD in Nutritional Sciences.

  1. I think when you all touched on performance and how ketogenic diet might not be optimal for performance. It definitely can be from adaptation but there is also modified keto diets to support different levels of intense exercise. For heavy lifting for example you have keto diets that incorporate more protein as apposed to moderate. And also cyclical keto diets flipping in and out of ketosis with carb every other day and carb refeeds or targeted keto diets where you only have moderate carbs only around your workouts and gong back into the ketosis for periods of the day. Going full Keto average 75% fat intake is not the only way to do keto to support training.
