83 Weeks #10-Goldberg Beating Hogan on Nitro – 20 Year Anniversary

WCW had it’s best week ever, this week 20 years ago! Join Eric and Conrad as they examine the first part of that phenomenal week when Goldberg defeated Hogan for the World Title in front of the largest cable audience to ever see wrestling and a record house at the Georgia Dome! But should it have been on Pay Per View? Why was it on free TV? Would Vince McMahon have given it away for free? Was Eric’s job in jeopardy? Whose idea was it to have Hogan drop the title? Why was it only announced four days ahead of time? Would it have happened had the WWF not been winning the ratings war? Who no-showed the event? Don’t miss this two hour dissection of one of the most important shows in WCW history, Monday Nitro from July 6, 1998!

  1. i love eric bischof he is realy the the real vizionar of wrestling i watch wrestling in evrope 97 98 and you know what we only watch wcw i dont know what wwf is or vicne mcmahn sow i think i said it all

  2. Eric Bischoff preach about the marks and the dirtsheets and Dave Meltzer. He read them dirty.

  3. One man should have ended goldbergs streak: hogan. I get that people hate on that idea but its what made sense. Goldberg over nash at starrcade. Goldberg over hall at souled out then hogan over goldberg at superbrawl. Id even have bret hart shockingly turn heel to help hogan win. U have a built in rubber match down the line with hogan and bill. And matches with bill and hart. Just my opinion of course

  4. No! Calling bullshit on Eric's comment about Vince coming out as the evil owner following him doing it in WCW. The Mr McMahon character happened because of the Screwjob and the heat Vince was getting because of that. Not because WWF decided to copy WCW. And on the random note I remember them showing clips of those Nitro parties. That was a cool idea.

  5. So wait Mankind being thrown off the fucking cell twice in one match and having his tooth lodged in his fuckin nose is just “eh it didn’t really make an impression on me”. Considering some of the shit Bischoff has put over from nitro this really hurts his credibility for me. For fuck sake, also on another one of his shows he tries to act like Hogan, Nash, and Hall weren’t absolutely MADE in the WWF. He plays it off like he was more important in their careers than Vince McMahon. Lol fuck off I guess you at least have an argument with the Outsiders but Hogan? You are literally In denial Eric.

  6. I'm a little disappointed that Conrad didn't bring up the random streak tallies or the name Chad Fortune.

  7. Why is it crazy to suggest that Hogan would immediately want a rematch with Goldberg, and want to take the title back? Has anyone seen his return 2002-2003 run in WWE? I'll refresh your memory. He jobbed cleanly to the Rock, Triple H, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, etc. Hogan's certainly not as self-absorbed as he's made out to be.
